Charles Russell Private Client team scoops Legal Team of the Year at STEP Awards

Charles Russell were named London Legal Team of the Year at the STEP awards  ceremony on 19 October at the London Hilton Park Lane Hotel, after being shortlisted along with four other leading law firms in the Private Client sector.

The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) is the leading worldwide professional body for practitioners in the fields of trusts, estates and related matters. Their coveted annual awards are recognised as a badge of excellence and innovation for private client solicitors/attorneys, accountants, barristers, bankers, trust managers and financial advisers. STEP has more than 14,500 members in 66 countries, ranging from the US and the UK to New Zealand and Mauritius and is active throughout our international areas of interest in Switzerland and the Middle East through it's branch in Dubai.

STEP members help families plan their long-term financial future, facilitating good stewardship and financial planning across future generations. STEP members also help families comply with the often complex law and tax rules surrounding trusts, estates and inheritance.

A significant proportion of Charles Russell's private client work is international, supported by our offices in Geneva and Bahrain. The judges noted the firm's innovation in developing a number of international "desks" to best serve clients from the particular regions, including the Middle East, North and South America, Switzerland, the former Soviet Union, Europe and the Far East. Our Geneva office is expanding and serves both Swiss based intermediaries, and international private clients. We have a Bahrain office with a full time private client property partner, supported by regular visits from other London based members of the team. 

Our recent success in attracting new clients was also highlighted, with new instructions from families and individuals from Europe, South America and the Middle East, as well as the UK. Key to our success has been our ability to remain at the forefront of developments within the industry – for example, by being involved in consultations and feedback on new legislation, such as the new offshore funds rules.
