Charity of the Year 2009/10

Rainbow Trust new Charity of the Year

Charles Russell is delighted to announce Rainbow Trust Children’s charity has been chosen as their Charity of the Year for 2010. Charles Russell staff will be providing support through a series of fundraising events and activities over the next 12 months.

Rainbow Trust provides practical and emotional support to families when their child has a life threatening or terminal illness, from diagnosis throughout treatment, to bereavement or recovery and beyond. This happens in at least 10,000 UK families every year.  There are eight teams of Family Support Workers operating from bases across the country who can provide 24 hour immediate help and assistance to families in their own homes or, whenever that support is most needed.

Patrick Russell, Senior Partner at Charles Russell said ‘’the Rainbow Trust was the overwhelmingly popular choice for our Charity of the Year. Rainbow Trust provides invaluable comfort and assistance to families when they need it most.  We look forward to working with them closely through a series of exciting fundraising events in 2010’’.

Heather Wood, Chief Executive of Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity, said:
‘’We are delighted to have been chosen by Charles Russell as their Charity of the Year and we look forward to working with them to raise vital funds for the families that rely on our support. These funds will help us run our core services as well bringing some joy to families too. When a child becomes sick, little treats like family outings can seem like a luxury and the needs of their healthy siblings can sometimes get ignored. Our Family Support Workers spend time with them, taking them out to ensure that they have some fun too. A big thank you from everyone at Rainbow”.
